Physical Wellness In Physical Wellness you learn about different aspects on how to better your self esteem. It educates you how to deal with different stress levels. You also learn about different workout programs and which types of stretches are either good or bad. For a week in the class you have to log all the food that you eat, and at the end of the week you go on a website and enter all the food. The website makes a chart of what was healthy and what was not. While learning about stress levels, you find out that there is good and bad stress. So we are always stressed no matter what we are doing. Your nerves get signals while taking a test and when you get an A on somethings. Different stress signals have occurred in your body and mind. Weekly walks consist of walking around the block twice. You have to complete the two laps within twenty five minutes in order to receive five points. Thirty minutes to get three points, and one point if you made it back before the period was over. |

Bitter-Sweet Story This is my last year at Notre Dame. Being a senior has been a bitter-sweet experience. I wanted this year to be fun but also challenging at the same time. So I decided to enroll in classes I have never taken before. I am taking government, algebra 2, english, art history, digital media, learning center, and prayer. So far my favorite classes are government and art history. I enjoy these classes so much because of my connection with the teachers. Our favorite teacher, Mr. Wagner, had to take a leave of absence because of his mother’s death. Mr. Wagner was not only a teacher, he was also apart of our family here at Notre Dame. Ms. Frye took his position and has been doing a great job. My art history teacher, Ms. Dotto, has taught us things about art and ourselves. We start each class with a reflection on a quote and then we turn it in at the end of the week. Even though I don’t want to go to that class sometimes, it has taught me what kind of person I am. |

Art History I am currently taking Art History which is a year long course. In this class we learn about different artists from different time periods. We learn a lot about different cultures and how art can be used as artifacts. We learned about Greece, Rome, Japan, China, India, Romantic Style painting, and impressionism in France. Taking this class makes one have a greater appreciation for art. I can’t say I love everything I see, but there are some pieces I am really fond of. Before this class, I never thought I would look at art and be able to critique it. You get to see all the different techniques that varied from each culture. I really like Reinassance art that has to do with religion. Throughout the course, you figure out what type of art you like. This could be helpful if you are seriously interested in investing in a piece of art. Personally, I love this class. From taking other history classes, I am able to connect the art to events that happened during the time period it was made. We see how each culture is represented by a certain artisit of that time. The art visualizes their fashion, type of government, interaction among people, and daily activities that people did. I have learned so much information from this class that I feel more knowledgable about art. Now I can have intelligent conversations about different types of art from certain cultures and time periods. At first I thought the class would be boring, but I have come to realize that it is a very interesting class. I suggest people to take it for a year instead of a semester because it gives them the opportunity to learn about more cultures. |
